(About The Images)
1882 $20.00. VF. 1882 $20.00. VF.
Lot Title: 1882 $20.00. VF.
Description: Fr. 1178. Scarce 1882 $20 gold certificate, this one really attractive for VF. The front faces up stronger than the back, which more plainly shows the pressed creases, as well as some minor incidental stains.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

167The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$700.00
1882 $20.00. PMG VF-20.
Fr# 1178. Apparently a fully original note, as the paper shows pleasing wear but no problems. The orange ink looks a little faded, but that is expected of this grade level.
55The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,900.00
1882 $20.00. VF.
Fr. 1178. Attractive problem-free example of an 1882 $20 gold note. Lightly pressed, the corners display minor wear and the back is nice and bright.
56The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$3,300.00
1882 $20.00. XF.
Fr. 1178. Remarkably bright for an XF Garfield gold certificate. The margins are notably broad, especially from the back.
57The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$6,500.00
1882 $20.00. AU.
Fr. 1178. While essentially uncirculated, some minor rippling of the top edge backs the grade into the AU range. For that level, the embossing and superb, original paper are unexpectedly nice. A...
81The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$3,400.00
1882 $20.00. XF.
Fr. 1178. Looks practically UNC from the front, while the back displays some minor toning, and some handling at the right margin. Color remains vivid throughout despite brief handling.
56The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$1,050.00
1882 $20.00. PMG VF-25.
Fr-1178. Very desirable note despite moderate wear and prominent creases on the right side. Blazing autumn-gold color on the back.
192The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$1,250.00
1882 $20.00. PMG Net VF-25.
Fr-1178. With its original look and fairly bright gold back, this note would definitely have graded XF if not for the minor tape repair on the bottom margin. Great ink presence, and no pinholes.
