Lot Title:
1894-S NGC MS-62.
Description:
Instantly recognizable as an original gold coin, the surfaces exhibit mustard-grey patina over unstoppable multi-spoked cartwheel effect. Some old die grease can be found splattered here and there, and Liberty's cheek is lightly abraded, yet also accented with die grease, and all this evidence adds up to a clear indication of vintage preservation. While abrasions on the obverse ensure a maximum grade of MS-62, the reverse is clean enough to easily rate MS-64 all by itself. (PCGS# 009026)

Rich honey gold, with a mix of rose and orange iridescence, reflect elegantly from the surfaces. The reverse appears MS-64+, but most would probably agree that the obverse barely makes the MS-63... |
