Lot Title:
Six half-cents.
Description:
None of this humble group of half-cents has been attributed, leaving all the fun to bidders who cannot resist a fine excuse to crack open a copy of Walter Breen's Encyclopedia Of United States Half Cents. The coins are quickly listed as follows: 1794 (VG/AG/obverse pitted, with a very bold date), 1795 (AG/reverse minor scrape, with a somewhat weak date), 1797 "1 above 1" (VG/severely corroded, with very dark surfaces), 1832 (VF), 1857 (AU-58/corroded, with very fine and oddly attractive microporosity), 1857 (XF/surface damage). Six coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
