(About The Images)
1880 PCGS Genuine (code 91/PF-63 details/questionable color). 1880 PCGS Genuine (code 91/PF-63 details/questionable color).
Lot Title: 1880 PCGS Genuine (code 91/PF-63 details/questionable color).
Description: There is no doubt whatsoever as the questionable origin of the toning. While vibrancy of the obverse registers at least the correct sequence of colors in nearly jaw-dropping majesty, the fact is that the concentric rings are just TOO perfect, and TOO "good" to be real. Curiously, the order of colors on the reverse is exactly backwards. The blue tones begin at the center and spread outward through the bands of indigo, yellow, orange and magenta at the edges, which is precisely opposite the natural progression of authentic album toning. Aside from the illicit coloration, the surfaces are mostly free from hairlines, although texture in the reverse fields is a little suspicious, such that the tone may be hiding "something". Tread with care. (PCGS# 007060)

922The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$2,000.00
1880 PCGS PF-62.
The nature of a PF-62 grade usually derives from the presence of hairlines, and that is the case here, as the obverse fields suffer very thin but quite profuse tiny hairlines. Fortunately, the coin...
923The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$3,400.00
1880 PCGS PF-64.
Flashing fields show practically no evidence of hairlines, which all by itself makes this type coin a desirable upgrade over the PF-63 level. While not so designated, both sides offer clear evidence...
753The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$3,900.00
1880 PCGS PF-64CAM.
A proof-only date, many examples of the 1880 Trade dollar will exhibit at least some cameo contrast, but this attractive piece offers more than enough depth of contrast to justify the PCGS "cameo"...
576The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$1,400.00
1880 PF-60+.
An uncertified proof 1880 Trade dollar that grades PR-63 and has very slight cameo effect. Brilliant with myriad feathery hairlines.
