(About The Images)
1835, 1836, and 1839-O Liberty quarter-eagle, as described. 1835, 1836, and 1839-O Liberty quarter-eagle, as described.
Lot Title: 1835, 1836, and 1839-O Liberty quarter-eagle, as described.
Description: The 1830s saw production of these gold quarter-eagles, all of them Classic Head types. An 1835 presents details very close to XF, but has been lightly cleaned, though only to minor detriment. 1836 has sharpness of XF, but appears to have symptoms of light corrosion, including some small, dark stains across the obverse. 1839-O is definitely a better date, especially with sharpness of VF-35, and the only impairments here are a couple of forgivable shallow scrapes on the reverse. Three coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1835 PCGS XF-40.
Bright gold luster surrounds the stars, greying just slightly toward the fields. Shallow strike quality gives Liberty's portrait a somewhat soft appearance, with the eagle offering only modestly...

1835 VF.
Softness of the detail is due to a combination of limited strike sharpness and light circulation. Of benefit to the overall charm is relatively original surface quality and a lack of detracting...
