Lot Title:
1874-CC ANACS XF details/tooled/cleaned/net VF-20.
Description:
Tooling of the obverse lower left field was a foolish attempt to eradicate some minor contact marks that really didn't impact the eye-appeal all that much to begin with. That side was subsequently cleaned, probably to normalize color, while the reverse appears to nicely grade XF-45 all by itself. A popular Carson City from an original mintage of 115,085 pieces. Spectacular, original quality drives the outstanding appeal of this Carson City double-eagle. While considered downright scarce in AU grades and above, this mustard-gold coin at the VF level... |

Typically abraded for an earlier Carson City double-eagle, though individual dings and handling marks are surprisingly absent. The reverse bears more mint luster than is usually expected of the... |

Many collectors would like to own a Carson City double-eagle for type representation, and 1874-CC is one of the most readily available for that purpose. The example offered here is lightly abraded - a... |
