Lot Title:
Four early date Buffalo nickels.
Description:
The strength of these better buffalo nickels lies in their early vintage and strong details, with all of them pleasing to the eye. A pair of 1913-D type-2 examples start the lot off with strong AU details evident, along with good luster for one coin. The other has possibly even stronger inherent luster, but PVC obscures the surface in areas, and conservation is urgently recommended. Next is a 1914-D with superb detail for the grade level, which is VF-35, but light conservation is needed to remove some greenish verdigris and prevent surface deterioration. Finally, 1917-D has MS-60 details and plenty of luster, but displays evidence of glue residue, and here again, conservation is urgently needed, with the end result possibly being a Choice grade. Four coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
