(About The Images)
1813 (S-292), and an 1814 (S-294), both VG. 1813 (S-292), and an 1814 (S-294), both VG.
Lot Title: 1813 (S-292), and an 1814 (S-294), both VG.
Description: 1813 S-292 has particularly pleasing caramel-brown color for a Classic Head and is struck a little off-center on the obverse. Sharpness is perfect VG-8, with probably the same EAC grade. 1814 S-294 has some vague scratches in the obverse left field and a few small pits on the reverse, with overly dark patina overall. Sharpness is near Fine (VG-10). Two coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

115The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$525.00
1813 Close Star Variety (S-293, R-2). VF.
Odd-numbered dates in the brief run of classic head large-cents are more difficult to locate in nice condition than the even numbered dates, and this 1813 S-293 is a far cry better than the usual...
506The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$2,500.00
1813 "Distant Star Variety" (S-292, R-2). NGC AU-58 BN.
From a "market grading" standpoint, this 1813 large cent is scarcely distinguishable from a lower mint-state grade, as the mint luster penetrates through the fields, and no shift in color or surface...
430The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$300.00
1813 (S-292) Classic Head large-cent, VF-20, burnished
The classic glossy appearance of a burnished copper is fairly obvious, and the coin has been recolored rather a bit too darkly. A couple of dents in the right obverse field require mention. EAC 8.
431The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$475.00
1813 (S-293) Classic Head large-cent, net VF 25
Sharpness of VF-35, but afflicted with the corrosive effects so often seen on Classic Head cents, particularly the 1813 (or so it seems to the many collectors needing the date). The corrosion is not...
232The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$475.00
1813 S-293 AU-55 Details, Corroded.
Easily differentiated from the only other variety (S-292) for the date by the point of the highest leaf, whose tip lies right of final "S" on the reverse. Were this large cent problem free, the...
282The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$800.00
1813 S-292, R-1 PCGS VF-30.
Rich bistre surfaces with remaining device details that seem too strong for the VF-30 grade. The design is fairly well centered, and the overall look appears fully original.
263The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$5,750.00
1813 MS-63 RB.
This is the Near Star variety struck in mid to late die life. The stars are reaching for the rim, which is common on these. The detail is full, and the strike was good despite the state of the die. ...
