(About The Images)
1924 NGC MS-64. 1924 NGC MS-64.
Lot Title: 1924 NGC MS-64.
Description: The "look" is somewhat analogous to a matte proof, since the surfaces almost entirely exhibit extremely fine sand-blasted texture, rendering a coin with interesting low-contrast visual qualities. Although the overall khaki-yellow color is quite pale for a gold coin of 1920s vintage, many collectors are going to find the appearance thoroughly irresistible, simply due to that fascinating sandy texture. Very cool! (PCGS# 009177)

Two 1924 PCGS MS-63 (rattler).
Wintergreen iridescence visits the obverse of one coin, and an occasional freckle of carbon can be seen on the obverse of the other. Both are medium-gold overall in this two coin lot.
677The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$3,100.00
Two 1924 PCGS MS-63 (rattler).
Both are as well struck as always, and shimmering with frosty luster. A cold, frosty one? No, actually it's a two coin lot.
678The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,803.00
1924 PCGS MS-63 (rattler).
This is undoubtedly one of the strongest candidates for upgrade in today's sale, as the strike is absolutely fantastic, and the luster booming all over the place for this common Saint. Of course,...
679The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,550.00
1924 PCGS MS-63 (rattler).
Design motifs are precisely struck and suitably endowed with flowing mint luster. Tiny dots of carbon freckle the obverse, while neither side is afflicted with any other spots or distractions.
680The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,800.00
1924 PCGS MS-63 (rattler).
By today's standards, this is likely undergraded by a point. Fields and devices are complementary in the degree to which they are free from abrasions. Premier quality for sure.
681The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,550.00
1924 PCGS MS-63 (rattler).
Golden slumbers fill your eyes, smiles awake you when you rise up to bid on this darling khaki-gold double-eagle. Boy, you're gonna carry that weight a long time... should you fail to win.

1924 PCGS MS-64 (rattler).
A satin-fresh coin, the obverse is free from distraction, while a couple of trivial copper spots are nearly lost in the leftmost rays of the reverse. The luster is amazing, especially on the obverse,...

689The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,900.00
1924 PCGS MS-64 (rattler).
More deeply saturated than usual, with lovely corn-gold patina that occasionally yields to chartreuse accents.
690The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,550.00
1924 PCGS MS-64.
Multihued gold toning diffuses bluish tint over part of the obverse. No one abrasion is singularly large, but Liberty's portrait is surprisingly chippy for MS-64.
691The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,600.00
1924 PCGS MS-64.
Clean as a whistle and free from copper spots or any other distractions, such that the look is that of a higher graded coin. Closer inspection reveals the sharpness necessary to show five toes on...
692The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,750.00
1924 PCGS MS-64 (rattler).
An original Saint, the question of eye-appeal is decided by powdery medium-gold patina that diffuses the luster across the entire coin. Very few marks can be found anywhere, but there is a tiny...

694The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,850.00
1924 NGC MS-65.
Extremely well defined by a powerful strike, Liberty's nose borders on being fully struck and separated from her mouth, and the eagle's plumage is razor sharp. As expected of such a pronounced...
695The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,850.00
1924 NGC MS-65.

697The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,900.00
1924 PCGS MS-65.
The fine, pebbly texture is particularly attractive for the way it is curvaceously illuminated by bold, flowing luster. The cartwheel effect loops beautifully over well struck devices and clean,...
698The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,900.00
1924 PCGS MS-65 (rattler).
The reverse is tremendous, free from marks and consumed with stunning mint luster. A cut at Liberty's jugular is a bit unsettling, and there are some water spots in the obverse left field that may...
699The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$2,700.00
1924 PCGS MS-66+.

Four 1924 NGC MS-63 (two no-line).
A quartet of 1924 Saints, and they are all consistently graded MS-63 by NGC. Two are in no-line holders, but realistically, there is no discernible difference in quality between these particular...
1266The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$3,500.00
1924 and 1926, both PCGS MS-64 (rattler).
Both of these are of at least suitable quality for MS-64, and housed in PCGS rattlers. 1924 is probably slightly less affected by small abrasions, but 1926 does have a few minor carbon spots flecked...
1267The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,700.00
1924 NGC MS-64.
Powder-gold color is an ideal complement to the smooth, sweeping luster. A thin die-crack through LIBERTY on the obverse.
1269The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,750.00
1924 PCGS MS-64.
Collectors who value original coins might consider this a knockout for the grade. Beautiful royal-gold patina drapes the entire coin and the strike is exceptionally sharp. High-end for MS-64.
1270The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,700.00
1924 PCGS MS-64.
Nicer than the average MS-64, surfaces exhibit lovely, smooth texture and creamy gold patina. The sharpness is thoroughly pleasing as well, with Liberty's facial features nearly all present.
1271The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,650.00
1924 PCGS MS-64+.
Not quite as close to a GEM grade as the "plus" might imply, since both sides display some hairline scratches, including three in the upper obverse right field, and another extending from the eagle's...
1272The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,700.00
1924 PCGS MS-64+.
There is quite a jump in value (about $500) between MS-64 and MS-65 for common Saints, and PCGS has determined that this one falls between those two grades, hence the "+". Each side exudes admirable...
1273The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$5,750.00
Three 1924 PCGS MS-65 (all rattler).
Unusually sharp definition is a common theme for each, with one coin (5078432) displaying nearly exquisite facial details. Another (9118432) has noticeably nicer surface quality than its companions,...
1274The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$2,300.00
1924 PCGS MS-65 (rattler).
Almost exquisitely defined, just shy of complete separation between Liberty's nose and mouth. The eagle's breast feathers are sharply sculpted.
990The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$3,650.00
Two 1924 AU details/cleaned, and a 1927 MS-63/reverse scratch.
Hairlines jump out at certain viewing angles for each of the 1924 Saints, but otherwise, they look like MS-60 to MS-62 coins. The 1927 is very well struck and appears MS-63 at minimum on the obverse,...
991The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$2,510.00
1924 MS-60 and 1927 MS-60.
Faint hairlines jump into view at certain angles for the 1927. The 1924 is a little drab but has no problems. Two coin lot.
992The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,200.00
1924 NGC Unc Details, rev. planchet flaw.
Being such a common issue, NGC's disclaimer of "planchet flaw" may make this Saint more collectable as a "mint error", rather than mere bullion. An oblong chunk of planchet is whimsically swiped...
993The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$5,350.00
Four 1924 MS-62.
That 1924 is one of the most common Saints is unquestionable, and these average MS-62 overall. One coin just might swing up into the MS-63 range, but if we told you which one it was, then it wouldn't...

997The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,400.00
1924 PCGS MS-63.
How do you like your hush puppies? Probably khaki-tan, which is similar to the color of this lustrous, lightly abraded Saint. Let's feet breathe!
998The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,400.00
1924 PCGS MS-63.
Luster in the fields is attractive and nearly creamy smooth, featuring satin texture in deeply recessed areas. A couple of wispy pin scratches are noted in the obverse left field.
999The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,400.00
1924 PCGS MS-63.
Dusky gold patina adorns rather well defined design elements. At some viewing angles, highpoint details exhibit a hint of mint-blue iridescence.
1000The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,450.00
1924 MS-64.
Attractive with vintage-quality surfaces and very fine satin texture. Luster spins readily about both sides. If you get dizzy, breathe heavily into a paper bag for thirty seconds.
1001The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,550.00
1924 MS-64.
Booming luster, well-struck, problem-free and unimpeded by plastic... what more could one want in a big, bad bold gold coin?
1002The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,500.00
1924 NGC MS-64.
Shimmering with light gold luster and impressively sharp. Probably a tick or two noisier than average for MS-64.
1003The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,500.00
1924 PCGS MS-64.
Liberty strides with resplendent glory through the sunrays, and throws off bands of spangling luster as the coin is tilted to and fro, while the eagle soars high above a lustrous, gleaming sunrise. ...

1924 (lot of seven) NGC MS-62 Saint-Gaudens double-eagles
