Lot Title:
Nine three-cent nickels.
Description:
Several plate coins are indicated here, and these are all different dates, including some really tough ones. All of these are higher grade "plate" coins, featured in Allan's book, and selected for photogenic qualities to illustrate particular die characteristics. Dates and approximate grades are offered in the following list: 1879 B06 (MS-63), 1880 P02 (PF-60/corroded), 1882 B07 (AU-58/lightly cleaned), 1883 P01a (PF-64), 1884 P04a (PF-63), 1885 B04 stage D (VF/obverse corrosion spots), 1887/6 B01e (MS-63), 1888 B09a (MS-63 with nice obverse cud and reverse strike-through), and 1889 B04b (MS-63). Nine coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
