Lot Title:
1861 NGC MS-65.
Description:
Provocative luster dominates the eye-appeal and should immediately motivate further inspection, as the overall appearance is on the cusp of "spectacular". The dazzling surfaces possess optimal salmon-copper hue for a copper-nickel cent, energized by fresh satin texture and brimming with original frost. Use of a loupe proves that the devices are very well struck, with four full diamonds and intricately defined feathers. A single trivial contact mark at the extreme bottom of the obverse left field is the ONLY blemish. This is how they used to grade true GEMs -- by leaving nothing open to doubt or interpretation!
