Lot Title:

1882-O/S (VAM-4, Top 100). ANACS MS-63.
|
Description:
|
VAM-4 has the underlying errant S mintmark "recessed", as described in the attribution guide, as well as diagnostic obverse markers that are present on this coin. In addition to being an extremely popular VAM, this happens to be a very nice example of the ANACS grade of MS-63. The old ANA "blue label" holders have long been suspected of encouraging tone, and sure enough, the coin displays a lovely, thin crescent of indigo-blue and toast-gold at the obverse top and reverse bottom rims. Luster is commensurate with the grade. (PCGS# 007138)

Checkered Collection. 1896-O seems to be the chippiest member of this trio, as it shows considerable abrading of either side. 1882-O/S offers the polar opposite quality, with smooth surfaces that... |
