Lot Title:
1883 (FS-303) 3 over 2 early die state. PCGS AU-55.
Description:
FS-303 is one of the five true overdates for 1883/2, and the most common. However, most seen are in a later die state, with a retained cud forming over the "18" in the date, while this is a much better early die-state, with no cud and remnants of the underdigit plain as can be. The die crack over TRUST has not formed yet, either. PCGS has assigned a dead-on accurate AU-55 grade, and the nickel displays plenty of original luster, as well as better planchet quality than average, as well as the superior detail definition expected of early dies. A great choice for the overdate specialist! (PCGS# 003814)
