Lot Title:
1829 (LM-2) NGC MS-64.
Description:
LM-2 is not noted on the slab insert, but this is a nice, early die-state of that die-marriage, without neither clash marks nor the obverse die-crack as seen in later die-states. Indeed, this is such an early strike that then "9" in the date has interesting characteristics that make it almost appear to be punched in over an errant underdigit. At any rate, the overall details are very sharp, and the fields somewhat reflective as if off of fresh dies. Surfaces are entirely splashed by a vivid and attractive mixture of bronze-gold, sunset yellow and indigo tone, and with scarcely any marks, one could see this coin as easily deserving NGC's MS-64 grade.
