(About The Images)
1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-65 FH. 1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-65 FH.
Lot Title: 1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-65 FH.
Description: Silvery brilliance is just too garish to be ideal for a coin of this era, and there are subtle hints of cloudy yellowish haze that suggest this coin has been conserved. On the other hand, the details are exceptionally strike, and any effort to preserve a coin of such technical sharpness is worthwhile. A reedmark on the shield and friction on Liberty's left (observed) knee are the only notable technical detractions. (PCGS# 005709)

471The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$550.00
1917-D Type 1, and a 1930, both UNC.
Trader Ed Collection. Grade is a tough call for the 1917 type-1, though strong full head details cannot be missed. The coin looks like MS-66+ from the obverse, with similar quality seen for the...
776The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,000.00
1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-65.
Olive-gold accents playfully gather around the devices and provide an interesting "glowing" appearance to Liberty's upper portrait and the eagle's head. Intricately struck as usual for a type-1 coin,...
543The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$550.00
1917-D Type 1. PCGS MS-64FH.
Extensive grey-bronze patina blankets both sides in about equal proportion, probably subduing potent luster to some extent, but also providing a nice vintage appearance. Central shield details are a...
652The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$450.00
1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-64.
Extremely bright nearly to the level of chromelike brilliance, the luster is breathtaking and revolves with boundless energy around either side. Even for branch mint type-1 quarters, one expects...
410The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,250.00
Two 1917-D Type 1. AU.
Piles of deep, thickly original crust layers both of these 1917-D type-1 quarters, and the effect is evocative of mint-set toning of the 1950s. Despite the thick tone, plenty of luster remains...
411The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$500.00
1917-D Type 1. PCGS MS-63FH.
Somewhat dull from having been dipped too many times, it is apparent that this was once a well-toned coin, since some background color is still splashed around the rims, but the obverse is a little...
412The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$500.00
1917-D Type 1. ANACS MS-63 FH.
Deeply struck as usual for 1917-D type-1, with virtually full lines at the inner shield and obviously full facial details. Without question, the ANACS MS-63 grade reflects a lack of luster, possibly...
413The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,200.00
1917-D Type 1. PCGS MS-65FH.
All three mints were manufacturing sharply detailed quarters in early 1917, which is why so many of the type-1 coins have full-head details. There is no question whatsoever as to the designation for...
414The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,300.00
1917-D Type 1. PCGS MS-65FH.
Blistering sharpness as usual for a type-1 coin, with predictably beautiful luster and a ton of eye-appeal. An original, undipped coin, each side is delicately layered with platinum-grey patina and...
500The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$425.00
1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-63 FH.
One expects uncirculated coins at the MS-63 level to have a few handling marks, which makes the clean surfaces of this type-1 quarter pleasantly unexpected. Sadly, a few too many dips have attenuated...
501The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$475.00
1917-D Type 1. MS-63.
Prevalent luster on the obverse suffers no problems from almond-tan tone, and as usual for the type -1 coins, full head detail is readily apparent. However, the silver-grey reverse is a little...
502The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$1,350.00
1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-65 FH.
1917 type-1 Standing Liberty quarters from any of the three mints tend to be well struck, and the die presses at Denver imparted blistering detail to this example, with minor softness over the inner...
661The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$370.00
1917-D Type 1 and 1927. PCGS
A pair of Standing Liberty quarters, graded by PCGS. The 1917-D type-1 (MS-61) is a strictly original aluminum-grey coin, but is afflicted by myriad micro-flecks of carbon, plus one sizeable carbon...
501The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$525.00
1917-D Type 1 and 1924-S. MS-60 Full Head Cleaned.
Two bright, slightly washed Standing Liberty Quarters that are fully struck enough to call Full Head. Much fewer marks than normally associated with MS-60, but net graded due to the cleaning.
1070The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$330.00
1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-62 FH.
This specimen's delightful velvety surfaces are highlighted with a hint of lilac. Complete details observed on Liberty's head, plus strong rivet features, are indicated on this intense strike.
1290The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$535.00
1917-D Type 1. MS-63 FH.
The rich, lustrous surfaces of this first variety Denver Mint issue are imbued with a splendid blend of russet and blue on its obverse, while the reverse has a hint of golden iridescence. All design...
1291The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$775.00
1917-D Type 1. NGC MS-64 FH.
Full hair details preside over this Denver issue's satinlike surfaces embellished with magnificent crimson tones. Indicative of a higher grade level, this specimen shows no detracting marks on its...
