(About The Images)
1923-S PCGS MS-63. 1923-S PCGS MS-63.
Lot Title: 1923-S PCGS MS-63.
Description: Unlike San Francisco nickels of subsequent years, 1923-S can be found with sharp details, as is demonstrated by this choice example, graded MS-63 by PCGS. The lead-grey patina speaks of proper preservation over the years, with no foolish effort made to "improve" what can only be considered a highly desirable coin. Strong details at the bison's head and neck, and a fully delineated tail prove worthy of appreciation, although a lamination is notable just behind his near foreleg. A dash of orange tone on the far left edge of the obverse completes this pretty package. (PCGS# )

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1923-S Buffalo nickel, NGC MS-63
One in a series of difficult "S" mint buffalo nickels, the 1923-S suffers a similar fate to many other San Francisco issues in that overused dies frequently imparted inadequate detail. For this...

It is super tough to find S-Mint Buffalo Nickels this nice. There are zero distractions and a ton of luster. The strike is a touch weak, but hey, that is how they made 'em.
