Lot Title:

1882-CC NGC AU details/improperly cleaned. Cornerstone Collection.
Description:
NGC may sometimes be a little overly aggressive with an "improperly cleaned" disclaimer, as the hairlines scattered across the obverse of this Carson City product hardly seem worth calling attention to, and could very easily be incidental in nature. Hints of prooflike character may be attributed to the reverse, and that side by itself is a lock for a technical AU-55 grade. Overall, an AU-50 "silent net grade" is easily appropriate for a gold eagle as nice as this one. Pedigreed to the "Cornerstone Collection". (PCGS# 008696)
