(About The Images)
1876-S PCI MS-60. 1876-S PCI MS-60.
Lot Title: 1876-S PCI MS-60.
Description: At no practical grade level is 1876-S really a rarity, and there is minimal movement in value between low circulated grades and MS-60. The latter is what PCI has graded this example, and that seems reasonable, but not mentioned is a moderate cleaning that has left prominent hairlines in the fields. Lustrous and with a hint of semi-prooflike character.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1876-S AU.
Arlington, TX Bank Box Consignment. The original flip shows no grade, but does include a remarkably appealing price of $69.50, which would make this the bargain-of-the-year today. Notations on the...
1237The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,500.00
1876-S ANACS MS-60.
Barbara U'Dell Gold Collection. Any double-eagle of this vintage is quite difficult to locate certified at the mint-state level, and higher grades escalate rapidly in cost. ANACS assigned a suitable...
981The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$1,750.00
1876-S AU.
A lustrous and lusty centennial piece, the obverse type features the offset portrait that many collectors enjoy. Scarcely any wear is present, but the fields show the effects of some minor hairlines...
1196The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$1,500.00
1876-S PCGS AU-58.
This centennial double-eagle is scarcely distinguishable from coins at the lower UNC levels, with maybe a few more hairline distractions in the fields. Any wear present on the highpoints could just...

1876-S NGC MS-61.
Centennial coins are popular with some collectors, and the gold coins of that date are not particularly scarce. Here is an 1876-S double-eagle featuring superb luster, and the aesthetically...
831The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,200.00
1876-S PCGS AU-58.
Indistinguishable from the MS-61 (or so) grade, as the surfaces are typically abraded and show no especially strong signs of wear. Perhaps a little discoloration on the highpoints prompted the...
832The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,450.00
1876-S NGC MS-61.
Common in all but the highest grades, 1876-S is readily obtainable in basic uncirculated grades, and this example benefits from unusually original surfaces. No effort has been made to enhance this...
567The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$675.00
1876-S PCI MS-60.
This specimen's glistening surfaces contrast with its frosted devices. A delicate blush of rose graces both sides making for a delightful cartwheel luster aspect. Contact marks are congruent for the...
