(About The Images)
1803 (C-3, R.1) PCGS XF-40. 1803 (C-3, R.1) PCGS XF-40.
Lot Title: 1803 (C-3, R.1) PCGS XF-40.
Description: The wide date is bulging at "18" and "00" touch in the fraction, giving ready attribution as C-3, a common 1803 half-cent. A ragged die-crack connects the ribbon to the obverse rim at 10:00, pronouncing a late die-state. Amazingly well preserved, vintage surfaces have escaped any possible attempt at "improvement", since the color is incredibly original and ideal, with mocha devices and nut-brown fields that readily display plenty of original grunge. Also amazing for twenty points of wear is the freedom from circulation marks exhibited by both sides. Superior quality for type!

1803 (C-3, R.1) PCGS XF-40.
Ash-brown patina embraces the entire coin and provides a charming, vintage appearance throughout, while visual sharpness benefits from walnut-grey toning that adheres to the high points. Most...
270The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$700.00
1803 (C-1) ANACS XF-45.
Exceedingly attractive from the standpoint of "no distractions", the gorgeous, smooth surfaces show amazingly consistent low contrast coffee-brown patina and zero spots or stains. Detail perhaps just...
154The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,000.00
1803 (C-1, R.1) ANACS XF-45.
03 are closer than for any other die marriage, with a footless "T" in LIBERTY. A piece of another "U" is visible between the uprights to affirm C-1, and making attribution even easier is the file...

1803 (C-2, R.4) ANACS VG Details/Corroded-Scratched/Net GD-4.
Correctly attributed as C-2 by ANACS, and apparently one of the early die-states, though roughness may inhibit visibility of clash marks. Moderately corroded overall, and though no darker than many...
156The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,350.00
1803 (C-2, R.4) PCGS F-12.
C-2 is a somewhat scarcer (high R.4) die marriage that shows "03" a little close, with a wide fraction on the reverse, and indeed, it is considered the rarest 1803 variety. The early die-state is...
158The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$2,500.00
1803 (C-4, R.3) NGC AU-55 BN.
"T" in LIBERTY has no foot, and there are six berries on the left stem for C-4, a scarcer die marriage. This is die-state II with clash marks, and additionally, your cataloger notes strong evidence...
