Lot Title:
1809 9 over 6 (C-5, R,1). NGC AU-58 BN.
Description:
"9/6" is sufficient to attribute C-5, and die-state II or so, as the crack from rim to hair is exceedingly faint. Nearly jet-black and heavily oiled, the slick, frictionless surfaces have no hope of displaying any luster through thick patina, yet evidence of flowline texture still shows between the stars. A single dig above "1" in the date, another between "IC" on the reverse and a flimsy scratch right of CENT are the clearest evidence of circulation, since the incredibly consistent ultra low-contrast color scheme reveals nothing about the location of rub.

1809 9/6 (C-5) PCGS XF-45, and an 1810 (C-1) PCGS VF-25.
1809/6 is just as boldly detailed as one expects of an XF-45 grade, with the finest details accentuated by a touch of pecan-tan patina. This coin's eye-appeal is excellent, but at a grade that is... |

1809/6 C-5 Net XF, Scratched and 1834 C-a AU.
An 1809/6 with the detail of XF but several shallow and lengthy scratches on the obverse. The 1834 is a nice AU+ example with mottled color and no problems. This coin has a nice antique look. |
