Lot Title:
Three large cents, 1798, 1800/79, and 1800.
Description:
Large cents from the turn of the century -- that is the 18th to 19th century -- comprise this trio, and all are really rather nice due to good planchet stock. The 1798 is attributed as S-185 and has VF details on a fine chocolate-brown planchet. The obverse is peppered with a few more circulation marks than normal for the grade. 1800/79 is the common overdate attributed as S-196, and this example has VG details with a rim tick at 9:00 and three smallish digs after LIBERTY. Finally, 1800 S-212 is a scarce (R.3) die marriage, this example having nearly VF details on a nice planchet, but microporosity is evident in places, and it may have been recolored. Three coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
