Lot Title:
1937-S NGC MS-65.
Description:
The reverse is exceedingly bright, while a broad central portion of the obverse is bathed in delicate peach-silver patina. Back in days of yore, collectors would often fill up plastic tubes with their precious treasures, then place a small wad of tissue paper on top of the stacked coins to keep them tight when the cap was screwed on. That may be the cause of the light patina, as it seems to be gathered toward the center, leaving the edges white. Nicely struck for a San Francisco half.
