Lot Title:

Complete Morgan dollar set from 1878 through 1890 in a Dansco 7178 album.
|
Description:
|
Wild variation in quality is represented by this set of Morgan dollars ranging from 1878 - 1890, in that there are some pieces that grade as low as Fair-2/cleaned, up through MS-63. in fact, many are cleaned, but a number are fully original, and it is an interesting study in divergent tastes to see many low-grade coins with exemplary original dove-grey surfaces alongside gleaming BU coins. Some quick highlights that might be notable include: 1879-CC (AG), 1880-CC (VG with perhaps an ancient cleaning), 1881-CC (AG and really neat to see this low in grade), 1882-CC (F), 1883-CC (AG), 1884-CC (XF/reverse severely cleaned), 1885-CC (MS-60/obverse planchet flaw), 1885-S (Fair/severely cleaned (?!)), 1888-S (VF/damaged surfaces), 1889-CC (AG), and 1890-CC (G/damaged). Comes in a Dansco album with slipcase cover.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
