Lot Title:
|
1935-S MS-64.
|
Description:
|
Considerably tougher than most subsequent dates, 1935-S fails to get its due because it misses out on the traditional "short-set" which has put demand on latter date coins. A nice, repunched mintmark can be seen on this MS-64 example, and stellar satin luster dominates the fields. Each side bears very good definition from a decent strike, although Liberty's hand is weak -- a premonition perhaps of San Francisco's production difficulties in subsequent years.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

GOM Set. Better San Francisco half-dollars pair up for this NGC offering. 1935-S shows a bit of the classic central softness often seen for the mint, although overall strike definition seems to be... |

Roman Powers Collection. Some flatness at the center of the obverse foretells San Francisco's later problems striking half-dollars, but the reverse actually reveals pleasing sharpness. Minute... |

Dynamite gown, cap, and feather detail is displayed on this well-struck example. It's easily select-in-grade quality, and probably one of the nicer MS-64 examples, in terms of lack of marks,... |
