(About The Images)
1800 (Lamination @ 2:00) PCGS AU-53. 1800 (Lamination @ 2:00) PCGS AU-53.
Lot Title: 1800 (Lamination @ 2:00) PCGS AU-53.
Description: A modest flake of planchet has fallen off the obverse right rim, the result of improperly mixed alloy, and PCGS has called this to prominence with a "Mint Error" disclaimer, despite this being a not-uncommon affliction of early mint production. Deep walnut-brown patina infuses the obverse, and is nearly a full shade lighter on the reverse, where hints of dark luster peep through protected areas. Only a single die-marriage is known for the date, and it is considered common, yet as a type, the 1800 is somewhat more difficult to obtain "nice" than the 1804, this one being very attractive.
