Lot Title:
Five Morgan Silver Dollars.
Description:
This quintet consists of one Philadelphia issue, three "S" Mints, and one "O" Mint example. The 1878 8TF, graded MS-63, has frosty obverse devices with deep mirrored surfaces that reflect a golden blush. The reverse is satiny white. The 1879-S and 1880-S are both MS-63+ Prooflike examples that display frosty devices and have minimal contact ticks. The 1881-O is a pleasing New Orleans MS-63 Prooflike specimen with contact ticks congruent for the grade. The 1897-S is graded MS-63 and is a Deep Mirror Prooflike piece with somewhat mottled hazy toning. Observed contact marks are congruent for the ascribed grade, and the strike is bold with a pleasing cameo contrast.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
