Lot Title:

Complete set of Flying Eagle and Indian cents (no 1856 or 1869 over 1868) in a Whitman 9402 album.
|
Description:
|
Coins of uneven surface quality comprise this collection of Indian cents, as surfaces vary in quality from "excellent" right down to "somewhat rough". Curiously, the 1877 has one of the best surfaces and easily grades VG-8 with no problems, while 1909-S grades G-6 and also shows no problems. These two coins together hold the vast majority of the value for the entire set. Please note that 1864-L appears incorrectly attributed, and there are the following better coins worthy of individual note: 1866 (VF-35), 1869 (G), and 1871 (G with reverse spots that can be conserved, otherwise superb). 1908-S is a cleaned XF.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
