Lot Title:
Seventeen Indian-Head cents.
Description:
A group of generally nicer Indian head cents make up this lot, including a couple or so of the key dates. Included are: 1859 (VF/obverse hairline scratch), 1860 (VF), 1862 (MS-60/slight corrosion, but an strangely attractive coin), 1864 CN (F), 1864 no L (VF/corrosion), 1864-L (G/environmental damage), 1865 (VF), 1869 (XF/minor reverse corrosion), 1871 (AU-58 BN), 1875 (VF), 1878 (XF/environmental damage), 1891 (AU), 1901 (MS-63 BN), 1905 (MS-60/obverse spots), 1906 (AU BN), 1908-S (MS-60/cleaned/recolored), and 1909-S (VG/graffiti). One minor corrosion spot is noted on the reverse of 1901, which incidentally has a lot of red color for the BN designation. The 1909-S would be a very attractive coin, actually tough to find as low as VG, but it looks like someone was just starting to engrave "additional details" on the Indian's portrait prior to spending it. Seventeen coin lot from the Tabasco Sauce collection.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
