(About The Images)
1917-S Type 1. PCGS MS-65FH. 1917-S Type 1. PCGS MS-65FH.
Lot Title: 1917-S Type 1. PCGS MS-65FH.
Description: Many collectors do not realize that type-1 Standing Liberty quarters were produced with high quality standards at the branch mints as well as the mother (Philadelphia) mint. A majority will display sharp details and a full head. This example also displays a generous complement of multi-spoked cartwheel luster, as well as much remaining original patina. Technically, there is an inkling of strike weakness at the center of the shield, but the eagle's breast feathers are nearly fully sculpted.

472The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,550.00
1917-S Type 1 NGC MS-65 FH.
Brock Megran Collection. To the fan of the series, surface texture for the San Francisco type-1 quarter differs subtly from that of the other two mints, as most examples express satin freshness, like...
666The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$3,100.00
1917-S Type 1 NGC MS-66 FH.
A branch mint type-1 quarter could scarcely be better struck than this, as the obverse boasts every conceivable detail, and every single feather along the eagle's body has been carefully sculpted out...
545The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$1,050.00
1917-S Type 1. NGC MS-64 FH.
Extremely white, without even the most remote suggestion of toning anywhere. This being a type-1 example, the design elements possess exceptionally intricate details, although slight die fatigue has...
544The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$3,300.00
1917-S Type 1. NGC MS-66.
Here is an absolutely drop-dead, stone-cold very-gem type-1 quarter, replete with incredible, blinding-white luster that propagates from strongly textured surfaces. There cannot be even the slightest...
863The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$3,000.00
1917-S Type 1. NGC MS-66 FH.
The unbelievable level of brilliance borders on surreal, with pure gleaming white surfaces that seem to reflect and magnify every single particle of incoming light. This is true of both sides,...
662The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$380.00
1917-S Type 1. MS-60/reverse lines.
Despite a choice, lustrous appearance (not to mention a fantastic strike) hairlines show in the lower left obverse quadrant and traverse much of the reverse. Still, the bold luster remains nearly...
