Description:

With a mintage of 7000, 1860 represents a little better date in the three-dollar gold series, yet it is not so rare as to be unsuitable for type usage. Plenty of peripheral luster remains on this slightly subdued olive-gold example, with bluntly struck details the rule rather than the exception for the date. Augmenting the appeal of this particular example, surfaces are expertly preserved in spite of ten points of wear, with no notable distractions on either side.
