Lot Title:
ND (1854?) (BG-224, R.3) quarter-dollar. PCGS MS-64.
Description:
Remarkably high aesthetic quality of Liberty's portrait was achieved by the artist despite an exceedingly petite workspace for BG-224, believed to have been struck in 1854. On the other hand, there is no date, and the fraction is rather crude, leading to speculation that the engraver had no access to numeric punches.
