Lot Title:
1851 PCGS MS-63 CAC.
Description:
Spectacular molten-gold color drenches the surfaces with completely vintage appeal, the original character having avoided all recent attempts to "improve" appearance. The deep color undoubtedly derives from high copper content, and indeed, some attractive bronze toning on both sides doesn't quite reach the level of "copper spots", but definitely indicates presence of the alloyed metal. A pleasing strike also benefits this sumptuous, choice coin, although softness on the eagle's head and neck is partially the result of planchet striations in that vicinity. Housed in a PCGS green-label holder.
