(About The Images)
1811 "Wide Date, Slants Left" (C-1, R.4-). VF details/corroded. 1811 "Wide Date, Slants Left" (C-1, R.4-). VF details/corroded.
Lot Title: 1811 "Wide Date, Slants Left" (C-1, R.4-). VF details/corroded.
Description: The wide date instantly gives C-1 as the correct attribution, and this example looks like it has been through the wringer, and come back for more. Surfaces are nearly black due to environmental effects, but even more obvious is extensive surface porosity that has left behind moderate pits and roughness. Still after all this, the details are at least equal to VF sharpness.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

276The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$1,650.00
1811 (C-1) NGC VF details/environmental damage.
Environmental damage listed on the slab unfairly overstates any perceived "detriments" to the surface quality for this four-star cud 1811. On the contrary, lovely walnut-brown patina features...
277The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$3,200.00
1811 (C-2) PCGS VF-35.
Just a bit more intricate detailing in Liberty’s hair above the headband may have been necessary to achieve extremely-fine at PCGS, but this is a boldly defined half-cent overall. Deep sienna-brown...
199The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,250.00
1811 (C-2) PCGS F-12.
As is the case for large cents of the same date, the 1811 half-cent frequently comes with surface issues and overly dark color. That seen here is atypical in terms of surface quality, as the...
193The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$2,900.00
1811 (C-1, R.4) NGC VF-20 BN.
Die diagnostics are rendered unnecessary since the large die break across the first four stars immediately gives away C-1, and die-sate V. This disturbance prevented metal flow from striking up TED...
194The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$3,600.00
1811 (C-2, R.3) PCGS VF-35.
The obverse for C-2 can be rapidly attributed by noticing only narrow dentils right of the eighth star. Planchet quality is remarkably nice for an 1811, a date that saw many struck on faulty...
196The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$2,200.00
1811 ANACS AU Details, Net XF-40 Corroded.
With just a passing glance, this half cent has the impact of an amazingly choice specimen, especially considering the usual poor eye appeal of examples of early Classic Head half cents. Flooded with...
