(About The Images)
1916 MS-60 and 1924-D MS-62. 1916 MS-60 and 1924-D MS-62.
Lot Title: 1916 MS-60 and 1924-D MS-62.
Description: Marvelous frosty luster glimmers off the 1916, which is mostly untoned and will appear to most collectors to be much nicer than the conservatively assigned MS-60 grade. The 1924-D provides a decent strike for the issue, but more importantly is draped in a marvelous array of dusky Easter egg colors that include lime-green and magenta-orange iridescence. Two coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

365The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$425.00
1916 Doubled Die Obverse (FS-101) ANACS AG-3 details/acid treated.
Few coins of this rarity can be positively identified in low grade and without a date, but the 1916 doubled-die obverse nickel features a nicer shift than many collectors realize, and one can see the...
222The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$525.00
1916 PCGS MS-66.
A stellar very-gem coin that is just thoroughly loaded with flowline luster, with some of the lustrous silken being the effect of die erosion. A profusion of tiny flaws in the planchet remain...
565The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$365.00
1916/16 DDO FS-101, Die 1. ANACS AG-3 details/acid treated.
Acid treatment was probably not necessary, since the other doubled elements are sufficient to attribute this very scarce doubled-die nickel. Still, the doubling of the date is exceptionally strong...
424The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$1,025.00
1916/16 DDO Good.
Though conditionally this coin only qualifies for a high-end Good, the date is clearly visible, and so too is the obvious doubling. Original russet in color on the reverse. Some viewers have stated...
425The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$1,000.00
1916/16 DDO Good.
The doubling of the date is clear and drastic, and there is a trace of soft russet toning on the reverse. Though not in the best of conditions, it is a respectable example of very elusive variety. ...
970The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$34,750.00
1916 Doubled Die Obverse. NGC AU-55.
This phenomenal oddity was the result of a hubbing misalignment that occurred during the fabrication of a working obverse die. It was not at first recognized as a major variety when it was first...
474The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$2,200.00
1916 PCGS PF-64.
The most elusive of any of the early dated matte proof Buffalo nickels, with a mere mintage of only 600. Both the obverse and the reverse have an aesthetically attractive rose iridescence. Aside...
