Lot Title:
1899 MS-62.
Description:
Starmist-blue pervades the edges of this lustrous Barber quarter, venturing a little further form the rims toward the interior of the reverse, while the central area of both sides beams with frosty golden-maroon patina. Despite excellent eye-appeal, technical grade consideration is limited by mild abrading of Liberty's cheek and lower neck.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Vanilla-grey patina probably diminishes whatever weak cameo might be seen on either side, though the fields retain modest reflectivity. Beautifully struck as expected of a proof, with the PF-64 grade... |

The cameo is stunning, and the strike actually very strong in most areas, even at the eagle's neck and beak. Indeed, this would be a wonderful gem if not for a strange surface disturbance in the... |
