(About The Images)
Two 1821 XF. Two 1821 XF.
Lot Title: Two 1821 XF.
Description: Although JR-7 is the correct attribution for each of these 1821 dimes, the lesser one is in a later die state, as can be seen by a die crack at the lower arrowhead. Die states might be called "a" and "b" respectively. These coins are in similar condition for detail, with grades of XF and VF respectively seeming appropriate, and each displays a reasonably original appearance. Two coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Low Estimate: $500.00
High Estimate: $600.00

1821 Capped Bust dime (JR-1) XF, 1843/1843 Seated dime Fine, and 1921...
Diverse dimes make strange bedfellows in this odd grouping. An 1821 JR-1 has nearly XF details, but displays evidence of altered surfaces. The 1843/1843 grades F and shows strong doubling of the...
252The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$775.00
1821 sm. Date (LM-9) AU-55.
Obverse tone is remarkably similar in appearance to that seen on Redfield dollars, involving accents of denim-blue and cinnamon gold that integrate freely about the lower side of the obverse. The...
411The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$375.00
Three Different 1821 Dimes JR-1, JR-4, JR-6 all grading VF.
Three different die-marriages for 1821 comprise this handsome lot of Capped bust large-planchet dimes, each a different “large date” Redbook variety, and each distinguished from the other by its look....
412The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$600.00
1821 Small Date JR-9 NGC AU-55.
From a purely technical standpoint, the grade assigned this coin by NGC must have been based entirely upon the quality of detail, which is exceptionally sharp for the die-marriage (JR-9 is not...
413The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,150.00
1821 JR-1 AU-58.
A very good strike manifests itself as exquisite detail in all areas, but particularly at the center of each side. A nice layer of deep grey and midnight blue overtones complete the excellent eye...
1199The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$500.00
1821 AU-53.
This example of JR-10, R-2, Small Date exhibits pale rose and light blue hues on subtle surfaces on its obverse, while the reverse displays a more vibrant aspect with deeper hues of these same blended...
