(About The Images)
1888-S MS-60 and 1903-O MS-60/hairlines. 1888-S MS-60 and 1903-O MS-60/hairlines.
Lot Title: 1888-S MS-60 and 1903-O MS-60/hairlines.
Description: Prooflike tendency characterizes this interesting pair of Morgan dollars. 1888-S grades MS-60/lightly cleaned, PL obverse, and would almost pass muster if not for wispy hairlines in the lower third of the obverse. 1903-O lacks cameo contrast, but grades MS-60 PL/lightly cleaned on account of merely a handful of erratic spidery hairlines. In each case, evidence of cleaning is very mild for this two coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

826The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$2,400.00
1888-S PCGS MS-65.
JRC Set. Toning splashes both sides of this example, with the obverse layered in sunset-gold, magenta and denim-grey while the reverse features nice progression from silvery orange through peripheral...
776The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$525.00
1888-S, 1895-O, and 1902-S, all PCGS VF.
Quite affordable at this grade level, this trio would cost thousands of dollars in UNC, or maybe even the AU grade. 1888-S (VF-30) and 1895-O (VF-20) show off similar iridescence to go along with...
777The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$270.00
1888-S NGC MS-62.
S/S, though the VAM attribution is not determined. Luster seems a trifle dull from some viewing angles, although this is partly explained by dramatic die polish that pops into view at about 20...
896The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$625.00
1888-S REDFIELD MS-63.
Wham-bam luster resonates off both sides, activated by gleaming bright silvery surfaces that are much less affected by toning than many Redfield dollars. Indeed, only flashes of citrus-gold color...
619The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$625.00
1888-S Paramount MS-63.
Dynamic luster shimmers through the fields, electrified by a ring of delightful toning that encompasses nearly the entire obverse periphery, and occupies all of the reverse rim area. Such is classic...
977The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$750.00
1888-S PCGS MS-64 PL.
(Ex. Heritage 9/20/2008: 9300) Conservation might be an appropriate course of action for this beaming silver coin, as there is a partial layer of greyish haze that affects the upper obverse areas. ...
978The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$650.00
1888-S/S PCGS MS-64.
Seemingly VAM-12, as the S/S feature is obvious and matches the image in the VAM reference. However, scuffing of the PCGS rattler makes it a bit difficult to confirm the die polish within Liberty's...
790The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$230.00
1888-S MS-62.
This gleaming white specimen has the vibrancy of an MS-63. The details observed on the motifs are sharp and crisp.
818The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$220.00
1888-S MS-60.
This example's glistening surfaces are augmented by a complementary golden blush. While a light sprinkling of ticks are perceived, there are no abusive marks or blemishes to ascribe for this boldly...
819The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$300.00
1888-S MS-62.
A breath of golden toning adorns the peripheries of both the obverse and reverse of this spectacular Morgan Dollar. There are some light toning flecks, but they are not distracting.
687The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$300.00
1888-S MS-63.
This captivating San Francisco specimen emits a vibrant glow from its satiny surfaces. Some die polish lines are discerned across from Liberty's brow, and there is a scant sprinkling of ticks. The...
863The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$675.00
1888-S NGC MS-64.
The reverse is blanketed with areas of rich electric blue and russet tones. Electric blue is definitely the predominant color on the reverse, but takes a backseat on the obverse. Though present, the...
