(About The Images)
1861 PCGS PF-64. 1861 PCGS PF-64.
Lot Title: 1861 PCGS PF-64.
Description: The obverse is thoroughly drenched in remarkable midnight-grey tone that virtually eliminates any opportunity for visual contrast, yet the design elements are astoundingly razor sharp, and this extraordinary production quality carries over to the reverse, where not even a single fine detail is lacking. This may well be a truly fully struck coin! The reverse is not so heavily toned as the obverse, and the copper-gold patina permits observation of some proof cameo contrast. Without question, the amazing strike rivals the quality of any proof manufactured today -- a profound testament to the capabilities of the steam-powered mint technology prevalent at the beginning of the Civil War. Housed in a PCGS green-label holder.

1861 NGC MS-65.
A scorching, blazing Civil War GEM, this coin is almost too hot to handle. Drop it on the grill and watch your steaks start to sizzle! The obverse displays extensive ivory-white satin texture with...

1861 AU-58 and 1874-S VF/cleaned.
Most certainly dipped at some time, the 1861 has recovered very nicely, having acquired toast-gold patina across much of the obverse with a swash of tobacco tone atop Liberty's portrait. The reverse...
547The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$370.00
1861 Seated Liberty quarter, PCGS MS-62
A thick haze of rather murky lavender-grey patina layers this entire coin, slightly inhibiting the underlying mint luster. Although untroubled by any marks or abrasions, some areas of Liberty's knees...
474The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$1,950.00
1861 PF-64.
A shining coat of obsidian darkness embellishing this entire coin does not appear to mask any hairlines or other problems, yielding a grade assessment of at least PR-64. Despite the dark patina,...
483The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$390.00
1861 PCGS MS-62.
The subdued lustrous surfaces suggest a mattelike aspect. Its handsome appearance suggests a too conservative ascription. Imbued with a luxurious rose gold hue on both sides, and there are not any...
