Lot Title:
1942/41 and 1942/41-D. F.
Description:
It is a curious circumstance that, like the buffalo nickels of 1914, dimes struck in 1942 saw not one, but two overdates from different mints. Benefit to the Mercury dime collector is, of course, to add flavor and variety to the series. The 1942/1 grades VF and is a fully original coin that displays some circulation marks and detractions, though they just barely fall within acceptable parameters for a straight grade. The 1942/1-D grades VF as well, with claims to a slightly higher grade, given rather sharp reverse details. Two coin lot
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
