Lot Title:
1873 No Arrows. PCGS PF-63.
Description:
Contrary to what is almost always expected of the PF-63 grade level, there are no significant hairlines on either side to detract from the fine proof surfaces. This may be reliably discerned in spite of prodigious, lush rainbow color that engulfs the entire coin. A similar pattern of deep blueberry, cranberry-violet and apricot-green tone leaves virtually no part of the fields or devices untouched, and the fruity colors are a delight to behold. It is simply surface friction across the highpoints of Liberty's bust and dangling arm that decides the grade, and one can certainly guess that unfortunate slide marks are responsible for the abraded areas.
