Lot Title:
1944-S NGC MS-67 FB.
Description:
Outrageously bright, silvery snow-white luster shimmers intensely across this entire coin, elevating it to an ethereal and almost unreal appearance. Leave your Geiger counter at home, as it is liable to explode in the presence of this astounding, blazing superb gem. The exact center of the reverse is impossibly sharp, leading immediately to a "FB" designation, yet the balance of the coin, including the center of the obverse, is peculiarly indistinct, possibly suggesting either a ridiculously late die state, or liquid contamination on the die when this coin was struck. Whatever it was that caused this amazing luster, the mint should have bottled it up and saved it for future generations. Technical limitations include scattered carbon spots on the obverse, but who cares? You'll probably be blinded anyway by the time you get a chance at closer observation. Truly... amazing.
