(About The Images)
1882-S NGC MS-64. 1882-S NGC MS-64.
Lot Title: 1882-S NGC MS-64.
Description: As difficult as it sometimes seems to be to locate uncleaned, original gold, astute collectors know it is wise to pounce on such pieces whenever they are available. Here is an absolutely delightful, fully original toned gold coin that features vintage surface quality, golden-bronze surfaces and hints of mint-blue iridescence at certain viewing angles. The net effect of all these positive qualities is a coin that provides superior eye appeal for the grade. Even under closer examination, no disappointments are to be found, as the surfaces are free from significant distractions. Wispy hairlines in the lower left obverse field appear to be merely incidental to past mishandling.

1054The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$380.00
1882-S NGC MS-62.
The "S" mintmark has been gently repunched north. A shimmering, select piece, medium gold luster traverses the fields rapidly and illuminates very well struck devices.
1055The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,050.00
1882-S NGC MS-64+.
Rhinestone Cowboy Collection. Vibrant luster energizes medium-gold patina. A fairly nice strike brought up virtually every star, and the eagle's talons show almost full segmentation. Free from...
973The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$1,150.00
1882-S PCGS MS-64 CAC.
Butter-smooth fields of exceptionally pristine quality dominate the eye-appeal, with a single superficial abrasion just above the center of Liberty's head standing in the way of a gem grade. Struck...
1143The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$1,500.00
1882-S, 1886-S, and 1889, all PCGS MS-63.
Different strokes for different folks, especially when they prefer non-duplicated dates in a trio of gold half-eagles. 1882-S shows minor luster grazes and a dark spot on the reverse, 1886-S shows...
1144The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$2,200.00
1882-S and 1885-S, both PCGS MS-64.
Mile High Collection. Recently certified, these half-eagles received the MS-64 grade from PCGS immediately, confirming excellent quality. Both coins display rollicking satin luster, and the obverse...
1099The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$550.00
1882-S PCGS MS-62.
Essentially as nice as some examples graded MS-63, with fewer abrasions than expected of MS-62. Some frictional hairlines crisscross the lower portrait and may bar discourage any upgrade attempts.
1160The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$755.00
1882-S and 1901-S.
A pair of uncirculated half-eagles dated 1882-S and 1901-S. Both are lustrous and attractive, and should grade MS-61 or so.
1032The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$190.00
1882-S MS-62.
A gleaming yellow-gold radiance complements this boldly struck issue. The light sprinkling of contact ticks as well as some scattered hairlines are overshadowed by its dazzling visual aspect.
1100The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/17/2006$150.00
1882-S XF-40 Cleaned.
If you look hard enough, you can still see some original mint luster lurking around the devices.
