Lot Title:
1857 PCGS MS-63.
Description:
Supremely original, the dusky bronze-gold patina remains undisturbed practically since the day this coin was pulled aside for safekeeping. It is truly a pleasure to be able to view completely vintage surfaces on a gold dollar! While 1857 is one of the most common dates in the series, that can prove to be an advantage for type purposes, since this issue, and this example in particular, bear all the signs of good production and attractive quality. An insignificant pin scratch can be seen on the reverse beneath the date, but otherwise, there is nothing to detract from choice preservation, as indicated by the MS-63 grade.
