(About The Images)
1818 (N-10) PCGS MS-63BN. 1818 (N-10) PCGS MS-63BN.
Lot Title: 1818 (N-10) PCGS MS-63BN.
Description: The Randall hoard is famed for being the source of many large cents with red color, but here is an unpretentious and dark representative of N-10. Though quite lustrous, each side is thoroughly imbued with charcoal-brown color, save a sliver of the lower obverse rim. EAC 60 might be a stretch given the dark patina, but of course, everyone knows that coins from the Randall hoard are technically (almost) all uncirculated.
Low Estimate: $300.00

166The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$500.00
1818 MS-63 BN.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. A classic Randall hoard representative, MS-63 BN should fit the typical die-state and preservation adequately. The satisfying coffee-brown surfaces are atypical...
287The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$475.00
1818 NGC MS-62 BN.
The familiar Randall die-marriage, with exemplary luster as usual, though this example displays some flatness of strike. Perhaps a quarter of the original red color remains.
288The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$650.00
1818 (N-10) NGC MS-62 RB.
Truth be told, the obverse features just barely enough original mint red to accommodate an RB designation, while the reverse supports that decision with 40% red patina. A delightful, original coin,...
315The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$625.00
1818 (N-7, Late Die State) NGC MS-63 BN.
7070 Collection. Though not representing the common Randall hoard variety, a couple of stars have become connected by a short die-crack, and some small carbon spots are reminiscent of cents from that...
218The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$525.00
1818 (N-10) "Randall Hoard," UNC details/recolored.
Many coins from the famed Randall hoard will show spotty surfaces and discoloration, while this example does not, featuring instead magenta-bronze patina mixed with a splash of navy-blue here and...
244The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$280.00
1818 N10 and 1828 N6.
The 1818 has near uncirculated detail and a nifty full-circumference die crack connecting all of the stars with the date. The color is glossy brown with a reddish area from the forehead to the rim...
265The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$440.00
1818, N-10, R-1. MS-63 BN.
Newcomb-10 varieties survive in a great number because of the noteworthy Randall Hoard from a Georgia merchant's discovery around 1868, and then subsequently acquired by John Randall who distributed...
