(About The Images)
1928-S NGC MS-66. 1928-S NGC MS-66.
Lot Title: 1928-S NGC MS-66.
Description: An astounding level of dazzling blizzard-white luster blazes off this amazing gem, nearly blinding bright in effect. It hardly seems possible that this much luster could be compressed down into an area the size of a quarter! This is practically an untoned coin, though a light touch of tobacco-gold tone is splashed in the field above Liberty's left (observed) arm. This coin is not a "full head" candidate, neither is it an infamous "scoop head", so the strike seems to meet about average expectations. Die clashing is occasionally seen in this series, and this coin displays extra feathers on the eagle's right (observed) wing,

865The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$425.00
1928-S PCGS MS-65.
A classic strike rarity in the series, 1928-S seldom appears well struck, and scoop heads are common, though this example runs counter to the norm. Although certainly short of meeting "full head"...
433The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$200.00
1928-S MS-64, planchet defect.
Numerous die cracks can be seen throughout the obverse: at the olive branch, the center of the shield, through "TY", around the date exergue, and in combination with various other spidery threads,...
510The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$550.00
1928-S NGC MS-66.
Arresting, pure white satin brilliance practically leaps off the surfaces, glowing with blinding whiteness that would have been thought of as impossible in the days before thermonuclear fusion. Wow,...
466The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$800.00
1928-S NGC MS-65.
Mint luster flickers from all over this strangely fascinating Standing Liberty quarter, housed in an embossed NGC holder. The surfaces have acquired a deep vanilla-beige color with multiple mottled...
540The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$390.00
1928-S PCGS MS-65.
This pristine quarter is encapsulated in an older green-label holder. Surfaces are covered in bright fresh luster with a hint of tone about the rims. The three sprigs, and most of the face, are...
515The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$260.00
1928-S NGC MS-64.
There is almost enough head detail to be considered Full Head, but not quite. The three sprigs are clear and present, but the absence of an ear hole does not allow for the Full Head designation. The...
