Lot Title:
1919-D and 1928-S.
Description:
A pair of Standing Liberty quarters in divergent grade make up this lot. The 1919-D grades F-15 and features a strong and nearly complete date. The 1928-S is a far more interesting coin, with AU details, but surfaces that have been whizzed with such care that the "luster" is incredibly deceptive. It would be extremely easy for an inexperienced collector to mistake this as a "gem unc" coin (which is what the consignor believed he had). In addition, the right rim has a lamination that gives it the appearance of a slightly clipped planchet. Two coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
