1916-D Fine in a compete set of Mercury dimes (no 42/1) in a Dansco 7123 album. 1916-D Fine in a compete set of Mercury dimes (no 42/1) in a Dansco 7123 album.
Lot Title: 1916-D Fine in a compete set of Mercury dimes (no 42/1) in a Dansco 7123 album.
Description: Housed in this Dansco album is a Mercury dime collection dated 1916 - 1945-S, and outstanding effort on the part of the consignor has led to numerous upgraded coins and a much better quality appearance than usual for the overall set. 1916-D features the details of F-15, though an old cleaning has dulled its appearance just a little. 1921 and 1921-D only grade AG-3, but to illustrate the type of upgrades present, highlights that must be mentioned include: 1916 (MS-62, partial out-of-collar strike), 1916-S (MS-60), 1917-D (AU/dipped), 1917-S (AU), 1919-S (VF/cleaned), 1920-D (VF+), 1920-S (AU/dipped), 1923 (AU), 1924 (AU), 1924-D (XF), 1924-S (VF+), 1925-S (XF/cleaned), 1926-S (F), 1927-D (VF), 1928 (MS-63 FB), 1929-D (MS-63), and 1931-S (XF). upgrades are extensive beyond this date, with the vast majority of later coins being fully uncirculated.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
