Lot Title:
1942/41-D ANACS VF-20.
Description:
Perfectly graded by ANACS, as this dime looks like the poster coin for the VF-20 grade. Vertical bands in the fasces lack completion only at the diagonal leather straps, and there are simply no distracting blemishes to take away from the superb, original appeal. While the fasces symbol on the reverse is associated with the Italian dictatorship and the Axis oppression of World War II, many collectors do not realize that the symbol is still in frequent use today, even by the United States government. For example, the National Guard Bureau insignia makes use of a crossed pair of fasces, and two fasces appear on either side of the flag of the United States in the House of Representatives.
