Lot Title: 1801 Blunt 1's/Fraction 1/000 (S-223, R-1). VF.
Description: Nicely burnished and recolored on the obverse so as to provide an attractive appearance that is consistent on both sides. Close examination is required to discover numerous tiny pits in the surface that are remnants of previous environmental effects. EAC 10.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

337The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$220.00
1801 (S-223, R.1) Fraction 1/000. PCGS Genuine (F...
Sharpness is pretty close to VF-20, but may fall just a few points shy for the conservative among us. Let's call it F-15 details, with the caveats of minor to moderate surface roughness and a few old...
500The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$450.00
1801 Blunt "1's"/ Fraction 1/000 (S-223, R-1). VF.
The delineation of Liberty's brow is not quite sharp, yet the overall detail suggests a strong VF-20 grade, helped by the lovely coffee-brown surface color. S-223 is the popular 1/000 "uncorrected...
195The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$450.00
1801 Fraction 1/000 (S-223, R-1). VF.
S-223 die state III is easily recognized by the small rim cud above IB, and another larger connecting RT on the obverse. The blundered 1/000 reverse is shared with S-222 and S-228 and is popular with...
226The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$450.00
1801 Fraction 1/000. PCGS F-12.
PCGS sure is tough on copper coins from this era. This coin looks better than the grade assigned. It has full detail and a very minimal number of marks. This is the 1/000 fraction variety, or...
