Lot Title:
1868 Three Cent Nickel pattern, J-615, P-680, R-5. NGC PF-64 Cameo (CAC).
Description:
While the obverse has very much the appearance of the regularly issued three-cent nickels (except for the wider flange at the rims), the reverse is a curious combination of a Roman numeral III within the wreath design of a flying eagle cent (or three-dollar gold, some would say). This shimmering, brilliant white example is struck in normal coin alignment, while many examples exist with medallic alignment.

Judd-615: 1868 Three-Cent Nickel (R.5), PCGS PF-64.
PCGS simply states "PF-64", which adequately reflects minimal contrast from the proof presentation. The Judd-615 escalates very rapidly in value in either higher grade, or with any sort of "cameo"... |
